About Me and This Website
Hello and welcome! My name is Brendan (they/he), and this is my website for all things creative and inspiring. I'm happy you're here.
Who Am I?
I am an everchanging thing. I love sunsets (and sunrises), ice cream, traveling, tea, candles, mountains, discovering new music, stargazing, and learning about the world and the people in it. I have a deep appreciation of aesthetics and how our internal and external worlds can make us feel. I seek warmth and I seek to bring warmth to those I meet.
I like to split my time between a few things.
I'm currently a software developer, but music has also been at the forefront of most of my life. I play drums and banjo, songwrite, produce, mix/master. My primary creative project is called Memory Channel, and I also play drums in the band warmachine.
I'm also a big language nerd - I love learning about the history and taxonomy of human languages, have created a couple of constructed languages and writing systems, and am also in the midst of learning Korean.
In the rest of my free time, I enjoy cooking, homebrewing, hiking, studying maps, reading books, and practicing calligraphy.
This website is dedicated to all of the above. It is a place to show my creative work, hobbies, and everything I find inspiring!
My Music
I have been playing the drums for about 14 years now, since the ripe old age of 9, and I continue to play with my musician friends! My main band is warmachine, but I also play and record as a fill-in or session drummer every now and then. My style is inspired by a mix of breakbeat, jazz, and rock/metal - my favorite drummers include Adam Pedder (II), Jojo Mayer, Joey Jordison, Zach Hill, Yussef Dayes, and Brann Dailor.
I'm also a producer, mixer, and mastering engineer of about 9 years now. I love music that feels beautiful and enveloping, yet with an underlying (or very obvious) intensity, and I try to communicate this through the sounds of the records I work on along with my own music. I have a deep love for electronic music and various styles of rock, but I find inspiration from virtually every corner of the musical landscape.
My main solo project, Memory Channel, is primarily a mix of various styles of atmospheric electronic, rock, and metal. My last album was released in late 2023, but I'm slowly putting together more musical ideas as I'm able to. I'm focused now on practicing string instruments like banjo and guitar so I can incorporate them into my new music, as well as improving my sound design skills.
Here is a list of records I've worked on - thank you to all of these artists for having me be a part of your projects!

If you want to know more about the Memory Channel project, there's a page for that, too. And if you'd like to contact me or work with me musically (drumming, production, etc.) then throw me an email at memorychannelproject@proton.me.
